Entry Requirements

A degree and/or a teaching qualification are normally required for admission. Your professional experience may, however, count towards entry if you do not hold a degree – many successful participants (who are not graduates) have joined the programme and have found practitioner-expertise appropriate to the demands of the programme

Demonstration of prior learning or prior certification may be used towards postgraduate qualifications and you will be offered support to seek the accreditation of your prior learning (APL) where this is appropriate

Curriculum

For any level of education professional, we can provide tailor-made CPD opportunities specific to individual development requirements. You may enrol as an associate student to follow a specific module, and our Masters programmes have been designed so that you can build your award in three ' bite-size' stages: PGCert, PGDip, MA

Designed to accommodate the learning needs of working professionals, these programmes can be studied on a full or part-time basis, at the University's Walsall Campus, or at a bespoke location for groups of more than 15 students

The programmes cover a range of education topics, with the chance to specialise in, and gain a named award in: Leadership and Management in Education, Mentoring and Coaching, Learning and Teaching, Special Needs and Inclusion, Early Years and Higher Education

Each specialism can be studied up to the award of PGCert, PGDip and/or MA, or there is the option to study the more general 'Education' route

These comprehensive, focused programmes allow you to identify and develop further skills that will enhance your performance as an education and/or training professional working in a school, college, Local Authority, post-compulsory, university or other education environment – the course is structured to benefit both classroom practitioners and those engaged in other professional roles

You address key current issues in education, explore perspectives relating to effectiveness and improvement, and deepen your critical reflection on both theory and practice – at all times, modules will enable you to undertake activities relating directly to your professional role

The range of modules available provides a comprehensive framework of continuing professional development for all those working in the field of education and training from both public and private sector organisations - see How you can build your PGCert/PGDip/MA Education

Following any of our Masters level programmes, you will be able to critically analyse and rigorously investigate issues relating to the work of educational organisations; apply education theory to professional practice in education; and critically reflect upon your own professional role

It is possible to complete the MA part-time in two years, but three years is the usual duration
