Curriculum
Level 1: Orientation skill, concept and creative thinking.
Level 1 is designed to familiarise you with the principles and practices of interior design, including drawing techniques and computer visualisation. Additional modules explore the historical and cultural origins of design, and introduce research skills including personal development plans, you will also be able to familiarise yourself with model-making workshops, the relationship between inside and outside spaces and conceptual designing though experimentation. *
Level 2: Consolidation translation within creative professional contexts.
Level 2 is designed to provide you with the opportunity to apply the principles learnt in the first year. This begins with feasibility studies and leads on to detailing specifications in terms of design, costs and materials. You will be involved in a variety of live projects with external clients, contextual modules and will be using advanced modelling techniques. Further conceptual development within exhibition design will realise your design potential.
Level 3: Professional preparation defining and refining individual creativity.
Level 3 offers the opportunity for defining and refining individual creativity through self-directed project work. You will explore different aspects of the design process, presenting work in physical and virtual form. You will have the opportunity to enter a national competition and be able to develop your personal portfolios and graphic identity in readiness to enter the workplace. Expectations are high in terms of the required standards of work, and this is very much reflected in the quality of work displayed at the School's Design Show, which is held at the end of the academic year.
