Entry Requirements

  • A Level: Must include passes at A2 in at least one subject.
  • BTEC: Extended Diploma (QCF) or Diploma (QCF)
  • International Baccalaureate: Diploma with 24 points including a minimum of 15 points at Higher Level.

Note: We would normally expect you to have Grade C in GCSE English and Maths.

English Language Requirements:

  • Overall IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking (or recognised equivalent).

Curriculum

Our course give you the chance to work with a group of energised, passionate and thoughtful health promoters. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of how health beliefs and practices are influenced by historic, socio-cultural, economic, environmental, personal and policy factors. You'll also learn the skills needed to promote the health of different populations.

Your first year will give you the background to health and healthcare in the UK, as well as an introduction to research and health promotion theory and methods.

Years two and three have fewer compulsory modules, leaving more time to concentrate on areas that interest you most. It could be global health, health policy or health informatics - getting the right information to the right person at the right time. 

You’ll spend much of your final year undertaking your own individual research project but you’ll still have time to choose from a range of optional modules such as Health Promotion and Later Life, Global and Local Perspectives in Health, Infection Control and Health Service Finance.
