Curriculum

This degree combines core elements of civil engineering along with the science of surveying - also known as land surveying or geomatics.

The combination of subjects will help you understand the requirements of the construction and engineering process and how these are met from a surveying perspective.

By combining academic and practical learning, you’ll gain a broad insight into ground conditions, design and construction of buildings, roads and bridges along with surveying operations to support these activities.

Using modern software and equipment, you’ll also learn the techniques required to produce the reliable spatial data on which all construction tasks depend.

You won’t just be measuring. You’ll be analysing data, presenting it and managing it. And of course re-measuring… just to be sure.

The core modules that you'll be studying include land and construction surveying, structural mechanics and materials, legal and regulatory framework and engineering surveying. There are also optional modules in subjects such as traffic and highway engineering, sea surveying and water management. All match the required standards of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).
