Entry Requirements

  • Foundation diploma: Preferably an art and design foundation diploma. Interview and portfolio review.
  • A-levels: For those applying with A-levels only, grades ABB are expected, supported by a high quality portfolio.
  • BTEC: DDD.
  • International Baccalaureate: 34 points.
  • Access to HE Diploma: pass with 60 credits overall. Art and design diploma preferred. At least 45 credits at level 3, with 30 credits at merit or above.
  • GCSE (minimum grade C) or Access Equivalent: a good profile including English language and mathematics.

English Language Requirement:

  • IELTS 6.0 overall, with 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in the other elements.

Portfolio advice
When you come for interview you will be asked to bring an edited portfolio to show your work. We would like to see:

  • 15-20 drawings and ideas on A1 or A2 sheets, not mounted onto heavy card or in plastic sheets
  • Your ability to develop an idea from concept
  • Your potential to experiment and explore ideas and techniques
  • Examples of life drawing
  • Two working sketchbooks
  • Awareness of contemporary fashion and textiles
  • Consideration of colour, pattern and texture
