Argyll College UHI is very much your local college and your local university. Our courses are constructed and developed to meet the needs of the people of Argyll, to allow them access to the education they want, to provide the skills training local employers are looking for and to contribute to the local economy of the region.  Our portfolio of courses is continuing to grow, putting us at the heart of further and higher education in Argyll and the Isles. Indeed, in terms of higher education we continue to be the fastest growing academic partner within the University of the Highlands and Islands, as measured by student numbers.

Dunoon lies on the west shore of the Firth of Clyde where it turns south towards the Isle of Bute and Arran after flowing through the Glasgow conurbation. It is located on the east side of the mountainous Cowal peninsula and is more easily accessible by sea than by land. This gives it a very attractive "island" feel.

Dunoon is the largest town in Argyll and is built around two bays, East Bay and West Bay (aligned, confusingly, north and south of the centre of the town). Between them is a hilly nose of land sticking out into the estuary.
