The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Occupational Safety and Health with Environmental Health at UTAR is a multidisciplinary programme designed to address both environmental and workplace health challenges. With global environmental issues like climate change, pollution, and resource depletion affecting human health, there is an increasing demand for professionals skilled in environmental protection, green technologies, and hazardous substance management. Additionally, workplace safety has gained significant attention due to occupational diseases, exposure to hazardous materials, and industrial hazards.
This programme equips students with professional knowledge, technical expertise, and practical skills to ensure workplace safety and environmental health compliance. Entry Requirements
Any of these:
- STPM: Grade C in any 2 subjects+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- STAM: Minimum grade of Jayyid+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- A-Level: Grade D in any 2 subjects+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- UEC: Grade B in 5 subjects+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- SAM: ATAR 70 and Grade B in any 2 subjects+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- CPU: Average of 70% in 6 subjects+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- IB Diploma: Minimum 24 points (excluding bonus points) and 4 points in any 2 subjects+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- TVET Diplomas (DKM / DVM / DLKM): Fully accredited by MQA
Minimum CGPA 2.50 OR CGPA 2.00 with 2 years relevant work experience

- Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions: Minimum CGPA of 2.00+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- Diploma (Level 4, MQF): Minimum CGPA of 2.00+Credit in 1 Science subject at SPM level / equivalent**.
- Other Equivalent Qualifications: Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
English Language Requirements:
- Malaysian Applicants (STPM / UEC/qualifications not fully in English): Credit in SPM English / Grade C in O-Level English / Grade B in UEC English / MUET Band 3 / IELTS Band 5.0 / TOEFL 40 (iBT) / TOEFL 7.5 (Essentials) / PTE 47 / Cambridge English 154/100 (OET) / ELS CIEP Level 107.
Note: Not applicable for A-Level/SAM/CPU or qualifications fully in English (must have a pass in SPM English/equivalent).
If only a pass in SPM English/equivalent is obtained, applicants must take and pass English Levels 7 & 8 in the English Enhancement Programme before joining the degree programme.
