Bachelor of Computer Science in Software Engineering (Hons)

The Bachelor in Software Engineering (Honours) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional is a three-year undergraduate programme (nine semesters, 120 credit hours) designed to align with the Body of Knowledge for Software Engineering. It provides a strong theoretical and practical foundation in computer science and software engineering, enabling graduates to design, develop, and maintain software for various platforms, including standalone systems, web applications, mobile platforms, and cloud infrastructure.

The curriculum emphasizes quality assurance, best practices in analysis, design, development, and testing, ensuring that graduates are highly sought after in the industry with competitive salaries. The programme also focuses on teamwork, real-world projects, and industry collaboration, preparing students for seamless workforce integration.

Graduates will be industry-ready, equipped with practical skills and expertise that make them valuable assets in the software engineering field.

STPM (Science Stream)

• Pass with a minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in:
  • Math (C)
  • Any one (1) of the Science/ICT subjects (C)
    OR
  • Additional Math (SPM) (C)
  • Math and any one (1) of the Science/Technology/Engineering subjects (C)

STPM (Arts Stream)

• Pass with a minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects:
  • Additional Math (SPM) (C)
    OR
  • Math and any one (1) of the Science/Technology/Engineering subjects (C)

Foundation/Matriculation

• Pass with a minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in:
  • Additional Math (SPM) (C)
  • Math and any one (1) of the Science/Technology/Engineering subjects (SPM) (C)

STAM

• Pass with a minimum grade of Jayyid (CGPA 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects:
  • Additional Math (SPM) (C)
    OR
  • Math and any one (1) of the Science/Technology/Engineering subjects (SPM) (C)

A-Level

• Pass with a minimum of Grade D in:
  • Math (D)
  • Any one (1) of the Science or ICT subjects (D)
  • Additional Math (SPM) (E)

Diploma (Computing Field)

• Pass Diploma in Computing with a minimum CGPA of 2.50
• Candidates with CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough internal evaluation process.
• Additional Math (SPM) (C)
• Math and any one (1) of the Science/Technology/Engineering subjects (C)

Other Diploma (Science & Technology)

• Pass Any Diploma in Science and Technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.75
• Candidates with CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 may be admitted subject to a thorough internal evaluation process.
• Math and any one (1) of the Science/Technology/Engineering subjects (C)

Diploma Vokasional Malaysia / Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia / Diploma Latihan Kemahiran Malaysia

• Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 in computing fields, subject to Senate’s approval.

Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)

• Pass UEC with a minimum of Grade B in FIVE (5) subjects, including:
  • Math (B)
  • English (B)
  • Any one (1) Science or ICT subject (B)

International Baccalaureate (IB)

• Pass IB with a total of 24 points including:
  • Math
  • Additional Math (SPM) (E)

Others

• Pass with a minimum of Grade C (or 60%) in:
  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM)
  • Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT)
  • South Australian Certificate Education (SACE)
  • Western Australian Certificate Education (WACE)
  • Overseas Preparatory Programme
  • Australian Capital Territory (Year12)
  • Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
  • American Degree Transfer Programme (ADTP) with CGPA 2.00 in 2 years or other tertiary

Additional Note

• Candidates with a pass (Grade E) in Additional Mathematics at the SPM level or its equivalent need to take the reinforcement Mathematics course offered in the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science program.

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS

For Malaysian Students:

Malaysian students may enrol without MUET. However, students are required to complete MUET during duration of study (before graduation). IELTS (5.0 and above) or TOEFL (500 and above) or TOEFL Internet Based Test (42 and above) is also accepted.

For International Students:

International students are required to have one of the English proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Bachelor students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Bachelor programme.
