UCSI’s Foundation in Medical Science programme offers a specialised pathway for those aspiring to become doctors or healthcare professionals. This programme is designed to prepare students for the intellectual demands of degrees in medicine, nursing, and optometry. From the outset, students are taught and mentored by esteemed professors, fostering a learning environment that encourages academic excellence and professional growth.

The curriculum provides a robust foundation in core Science and Mathematics subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics—essential prerequisites for medical and healthcare studies. Additionally, the programme offers specialised focus areas that provide practical exposure to medical sciences and essential soft skills, enhancing students' ability to excel in the healthcare field. Assessment methods vary by course and include a combination of written exams (50%) and project-based coursework (50%), ensuring a balanced evaluation of theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • SPM / O-Level: 5 credits, including:
    • B grade in: Mathematics / Additional Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology
  • Other Equivalent Qualifications (Recognized by MQA): Overall average of 65%, in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics

Note: Subject to acceptance by professional bodies such as the Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Pharmacy Board.


English Language Requirements

Candidates are exempted from SE004 Basic English and SE005 English Foundation if they meet any of the following:

  • UEC English Language: Minimum Grade A2
  • MUET: Minimum Band 2
  • TOEFL: Score 30-31
  • IELTS: Minimum 4.0
  • O-Level/IGCSE/SPM English 1119: Minimum Grade C
  • CEFR: Minimum Grade B1 (with at least 2 skills at B1)
  • Cambridge English Qualification: Minimum 140
  • Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum 140
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Minimum 36
