Historically Taylor's University has had very strong links with British, American and Australian universities, and we are now complementing those connections with new partnerships with well-respected universities in the Asia-Pacific area. As part of this regional engagement, Associate Professor Edwin Chung from the Taylor's School of Engineering recently visited engineering colleagues at the Hamamatsu campus of Shizuoka University in Japan (click here). Ranked by QS in the Top 200 Asian Universities, Shizouka University has a well-established reputation for its engineering programmes - and can claim Soichiro Honda, the founding President of the Honda Motor Co. Ltd, as one of its more famous alumni. This was a follow–up visit, following on from an initial visit made by Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi (Dean of the School of Engineering) to Shizuoka University in 2014 (click here). While in Japan, Mr. Edwin conducted a series of Guest Lectures on "Innovation,” which were attended by not only undergraduate students, but also postgraduate and academic staff from the Graduate School of Science and Technology. The visit also provided an important opportunity to learn more about the research that is being conducted at Shizuoka University, and it is anticipated that there will be a series of joint-research collaborations between Shizuoka University and Taylor’s University in the near future (clickhere).
