About
The Master in Sustainable Development Management (MSDM) at the Jeffrey Sachs Center is designed to cultivate a new wave of multidisciplinary professionals who are skilled in management and problem-solving through analytics and systems thinking, all while addressing global challenges.
This program empowers students with the leadership and technical expertise needed to craft innovative solutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It covers a wide range of areas, including corporate sustainability, social entrepreneurship, finance and sustainability, as well as sustainable management, operations, economics, and development.
With a solid foundation in critical issues like climate change, waste management, energy systems, agriculture, food systems, forestry, and biodiversity, students are equipped with the tools to drive change. The program blends theoretical knowledge with real-world case studies, ensuring a well-rounded perspective on the opportunities and challenges involved in advancing the SDGs from scientific, economic, business, and technological viewpoints.

Entry Requirements
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and with relevant working experience of at least 2 years of work experience, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses; OR
- An APEL.A Certificate (APEL T-7) (Recognition of Prior Learning)
- Other equivalent/related qualifications to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) recognised by the Malaysian Government.
English Language Requirement
International candidates should demonstrate English proficiency sufficient to meet the needs of the programme:
- IELTS: 6.0 / CEFR: B2
- TOEFL: PBT (550) or IBT (75)
- Cambridge English (Advanced): 180 / CEFR: B2 or Cambridge English (Proficiency): 180 / CEFR: C1
- PTE Academic: 50
- Malaysian University English Test: Band 4
If a student does not meet this requirement, the HEP offers English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme. This is normally conducted through an English language proficiency assessment.

Acceptance into the programme is by application and selection only. As part of your application, you will need to nominate two referees who are senior people acquainted with your work and who must provide a written comment on your academic and/or professional suitability to undertake the programme.
Applicants will be required to submit the following documents:

- A detailed CV
- One (1) passport-sized photograph
- A certified copy of each degree-level certificate
- Certified copies of all degree-level transcripts
- IELTS/TOEFL/PTE score report (if applicable)
- Two letters of reference (academic and/or professional)
- A personal statement of your interest in sustainable development and suitability for this programme
