George Town, Malaysia, 19 May 2017 – Penang Medical College (PMC) an institution selected once again to train future One Health workers by South East Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) with the offer of scholarship to students to pursue the MSc in Public Health programme at PMC in Penang, Malaysia.
All graduates who qualify for the University College Dublin (UCD) MSc in Public Health at PMC and who are less than 36 years old from South East Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) member and expansion countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Bangladesh are invited to apply for SEAOHUN scholarships. Students who have successfully been accepted to the programme may apply for scholarships no later than the 15th of June which is the closing date for the SEAOHUN scholarship 2017 application.
Non-medical graduates are especially encouraged to apply if they have an interest to grow their careers in the public health field and to be part of the One Health Workforce.
The UCD-PMC MSc in Public Health is a 1-year, full-time postgraduate programme aimed at those planning to pursue careers locally or internationally and contains modules and research projects focused particularly on public health.
SEAOHUN aims to develop the One Health workforce capacity in Southeast Asia. These scholarships are offered to selected students to pursue programmes at approved academic institutions such as Penang Medical College in Malaysia to support the development of young professionals who will promote and implement One Health principles.
In 2016, two PMC students received the SEAOHUN scholarships to pursue the programme. They are currently progressing with their dissertation and due to complete later this year.
Penang Medical College (PMC) is wholly-owned by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD), two world renowned Irish medical universities in Ireland.
