Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Hons)

About

Embark on an exciting journey into the world of traditional healing with IMU’s Chinese Medicine programme—the first in Malaysia to be taught entirely in English. This programme provides an in-depth understanding of Chinese Medicine while integrating modern Western healthcare practices, equipping students with a versatile skill set to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape. IMU’s distinctive approach also offers international exposure through esteemed partner institutions in China and Taiwan, enriching students' learning experiences on a global scale.

IMU offers an extensive selection of medical and healthcare programmes, creating a dynamic learning environment for students. The Western science and medicine components within the Chinese Medicine curriculum are taught by experienced Western medicine practitioners. This ensures that students not only develop a strong foundation in medical sciences but also benefit from inter-professional networking opportunities with peers across various healthcare disciplines at IMU.

As one of the few universities in Malaysia offering Chinese Medicine in an English-speaking environment, IMU ensures that the programme is primarily delivered in English, with Mandarin support when necessary. The curriculum meets international standards and is recognized for credit transfer by partner universities in Australia and China—both of which are part of the World Health Organization’s Chinese Medicine research centre network.

IMU’s educational philosophy prioritizes student-centered learning, emphasizing the depth of knowledge acquired rather than the number of lectures attended. This innovative approach encourages students to take responsibility for their own studies, fostering critical thinking, clinical expertise, and lifelong learning. Graduates of IMU’s Chinese Medicine programme will be well-prepared to become competent practitioners, bridging traditional healing methods with modern healthcare solutions.
