BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (Cyber Security)
About
This program is designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in cybersecurity and computer networks.
In Year 1, students will gain a strong foundation in computing skills and an introduction to the fundamental aspects of computer security. They will also develop technical skills in computer networks and systems, which they will build upon in later years.
In Year 2, students will delve into advanced topics, including network security, hacking attacks and defenses, and biometric-based security systems.
In Year 3, students will explore cryptography and malicious software in detail. Practical work in specialist modules and the final year project will involve developing security software. Additionally, students will cover the CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching syllabus, followed by CCNA Security training. They will also have the opportunity to obtain the EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification.
APU has strong industry connections, offering students placement opportunities in organizations such as GCHQ, Police High-Tech Crime Units, and Cyber Security & Digital Forensics businesses.
