Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature (Honours)

In September 2020, Xiamen University Malaysia began accepting applications for its Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature program. The curriculum seeks to give students a strong foundation in language, a broad knowledge base, an international perspective, and a flexible work attitude. Pupils undergo intense instruction in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cross-cultural communication. Along with learning the foundational theories of English language and literature, they also study linguistics, second language acquisition, translation, and the history and culture of English-speaking nations. They get knowledge of how to evaluate and comprehend literary works as well as a range of linguistic occurrences. Additionally, there are French and German courses available to help students expand their language and cultural perspectives.

The first graduates of this program were in 2024 who later moved on to further studies in reknowned institutions such as National University of Singapore, Oxford University, University of Hong Kong etc. while others directly started jobs in Malaysia and China.

Entry Requirements

Any of These:

  • STPM: A pass in STPM with at least a Grade C (GP2.00) in any 2 subjects or its equivalent.
  • A-LEVEL: A pass in A-LEVEL with at least a Grade D in any 2 subjects.
  • UEC: A pass in UEC with a minimum of Grade B in any 5 subjects, including English.
  • Foundation/Matriculation: A pass in Foundation / Matriculation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent.
  • Diploma (in a relevant field): A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent.

AND

English Language Requirements:

  • A credit in English in SPM or
  • IELTS - at least Band 6; or
  • MUET – at least Band 4; or its equivalent.
