About
Petroleum Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that applies engineering principles and quantitative methods in exploiting subsurface oil and gas reserves. At UTP, the MSc course in Petroleum Engineering offers qualified and dedicated graduates with a learning experience and industry relevant research and field development projects related to the needs of the petroleum industry. This is achieved through a programme of taught MSc degree course which offers 10 technical modules and 2 management electives. There is a high degree of computer usage for project, teaching and on-line support. High performance workstations are able to provide powerful graphics and processing capability enabling students and high calibre staff to tackle complicated problems of the petroleum industry.

Entry Requirements
Academic Requirement
a) Fresh Graduate (without working experience)
Candidates must hold a Bachelor Degree with minimum CGPA 2.50/4.00 OR 2nd Class Upper Division in the relevant field OR equivalent from a recognized university.
b) Graduate with relevant working experience
Candidates must hold a Bachelor Degree in the relevant field OR equivalent from a recognized university.
*Working experience in relevant field will be an added advantage.
English Requirement
- A minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79 (Result is valid for 2 years only) OR
- A minimum TOEFL PBT score 500 (TOEFL iBT score Result is valid for 2 years only) OR
- A minimum IELTS score of 5.0 (Result is valid for 2 years only) OR
- A minimum MUET score of Band-4 (Result is valid for 5 years only)
Curriculum
There are 10 technical modules and 2 management electives to be completed over 3 semesters. The course runs on a one-week lecture module at UTP.
