The Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at Lincoln University College, Malaysia (LUC) encourages students to critically analyze the relationship between theory and practice, adapt innovative ideas and strategies to their specific contexts, and evaluate and implement new teaching techniques effectively in their classrooms. This program is available both full-time (2 years 6 months) and part-time (5 years)

Through this program, students develop logical and analytical problem-solving skills, enabling them to make informed decisions that positively impact their chosen profession post-diploma in TESL. Emphasizing current knowledge and essential teaching skills, the program prepares students for success in teaching and lays the foundation for pursuing advanced degrees in the field.

Entry Requirements

Any one of these:

  • To obtain a Certificate in Education of Malaysia (SPM) * with at least 3 honors
  • Obtain a Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a Grade B in 3 subjects
  • Passing O-Level with at least credit in three subjects
  • Passed SKM Level 3 (Level 3, MOH) in a related field; and Passed SPM with at least a credit in one subject; and Through consolidation program (in case necessary)
  • Graduated Community College Certificate (Level 3, KKM) equivalent in a related field; and Passed SPM with at least a credit in one subject; and Through consolidation program (in case necessary)
  • Pass Certificate (Level 3, MOH) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00
  • Pass a Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) or equivalent with at least a Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in 1 subject
  • Pass the Malaysian Higher Education Certificate (STPM) with at least a Maqbool Grade
  • Any other qualifications that are recognized by the Malaysian Government

English Profciency Requirements (International Students):

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 4.0 or its equivalent.

If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPs must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the program.
