BSc (Hons) in Chiropractic

Chiropractic presents a wealth of opportunities in healthcare, driven by the growing awareness of holistic wellness. IMU’s Chiropractic programme is Southeast Asia’s first and only complete Chiropractic degree, designed to train dedicated and compassionate professionals committed to improving patients' quality of life. Students embark on a global academic journey, guided by IMU’s diverse faculty members, while expanding their professional horizons through connections with IMU’s international partner institutions in the UK, Australia, and the Philippines.  

From the very first semester, IMU Chiropractic students engage in extensive hands-on training at the state-of-the-art Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, as well as IMU’s Chiropractic Clinic. These practical experiences help refine their skills and prepare them for professional practice. With the rising demand for chiropractic care in Malaysia, the need for qualified chiropractors is increasing. Currently, the chiropractor-to-population ratio in Malaysia stands at 1:450,000, compared to 1:4,500 in the United States. This significant gap highlights the vast career opportunities available for competent chiropractic graduates within Malaysia’s rapidly expanding healthcare sector.

IMU’s Chiropractic curriculum is designed to meet international standards and is recognized by prestigious universities in Australia and the UK for credit transfer into their chiropractic programmes. The programme is also accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia, ensuring that graduates meet global professional standards. IMU prioritizes patient safety and high-quality clinical training, with practicum sessions conducted under the strict supervision of experienced professionals. This structured approach ensures that IMU graduates are equipped with the skills, ethical understanding, and clinical expertise necessary for effective and safe chiropractic practice.

• A-Levels: DD AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• STPM: cGPA 2.50 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Australian Matriculation: 65% aggregate or ATAR 70 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• NCEA Level 3: 65% aggregate AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Canadian Grade 12/13: 65% aggregate in 6 subjects AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): B5 B5 B5 B6 B6 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Australian University Foundation Programmes: 70% aggregate or ATAR 70 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Indian Pre-University: 65% aggregate AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Ministry of Education Matriculation #: cGPA 2.50 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• International Baccalaureate (IB): 27 points AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)
• American High School Diploma with Advanced Placement (AP): cGPA 2.50 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Foundation Studies #: IMU Foundation in Science / equivalent cGPA of 2.50 AND Credit in Mathematics and two Science subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. (This can be exempted if achieved the same result at Pre-University level)  
• Degree: BSc in related field: cGPA 2.00  
• Diploma: Diploma in Science, Diploma in Traditional and Complementary Medicine – cGPA 2.50. Diploma in Traditional and Complementary Medicine with 2 years working experience in the related field – cGPA 2.00

# The duration of this programme must be a minimum of 1 year in the same accredited institution and foundation in other disciplines are accepted.

Foundation in Science:

• Foundation in Science qualifications from other higher education institutions will be considered on a case by case basis for admission into the local IMU programmes.
• Students with IMU Foundation in Science can apply into IMU programmes and programmes with selected credit transfer options, upon meeting the entry requirement eligibility. **

For admissions into the IMU Foundation in Science programme, students will need:

• Pass SPM / O-Levels with minimum 5 credits in Mathematics, 2 Science subjects and 2 other subjects.
  Note: Specific SPM / O-Levels requirements may be needed for admissions into IMU programmes.

English Proficiency Requirements:

• MUET**: Band score of 3 (For Malaysian students)  
• IELTS**: Overall band score of 5.5  
• TOEFL iBT**: Overall score of 46  
• Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)**: Overall score of 162  
• Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)**: Overall score of 162  
• Cambridge Linguaskill**: Overall score of 160  
• Pearson Test of English (PTE)**: Overall score of 51  
• Credit Transfer: IELTS Overall band score of 7.0

The following categories of students* are exempted from the English requirements:

Students who graduated from other institutions where the curriculum is delivered in English Language for example:
Advanced Levels / Australian Matriculation / Australian University Foundation Year / Canadian Matriculation / International Baccalaureate / Foundation in Science / Other Pre-University Programmes from Local Higher Education Institutions

Clinical Internship:

• During Semesters 8, 9, and 10, students will undertake clinical internships at the IMU Healthcare Chiropractic Centre or at any other approved institution. Ensuring public safety and patient care, our clinical training practicum is designed with safety protocols under the supervision of experienced professionals.
