Entry Requirements
1. Normally be at least 17 years old and have either passes in :
*Two subjects at GCE ‘A’ level, plus at least three further subjects at GCSE / GCE ‘O’ level at Grade C or above or three subjects at GCE ‘A’ level (with one ‘A’ level at not less than grade D)
Or
*Three subjects at GCE ‘A’ level and two further subjects at GCSE/GCE ‘O’ level at Grade C or above
Or
*Two subjects at GCE ‘A’ level, plus two further subjects at GCE ‘AS’ level and demonstrate competence in Mathematics at least equivalent to GCSE/GCE ‘O’ level at Grade C or above
2. Provide proof of competence in English which is acceptable to the University.
3. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) when an overall score of at least 6 is achieved with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-test.
Note: University accept many other qualifications, both from the UK and overseas, as satisfying the entrance requirements.
Curriculum
The Degree consist of 12 courses over 3 years.
Modules to be covered in first year Bsc Creative Computing:
Mathematics for computing
Introduction to Java and Object oriented
Programming
Introduction to Computing and the internet
Creative computing 1:Image, sound, motion.
Teaching Methods
Class based learning, tutorials, workshops and seminars.
Additionally:
*Online Resources including Examiners' reports and past exam papers, the Student handbook, Regulations, course information sheers, reading list, a 'News and notices' section. It also contains the first four chapters of subject guides for most courses. On registering students will also gain access to the Virtual Learning Environment.
*Online Library giving access to Justis.com, JSTOR, ABI/INFORM, Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier. Assessment Each unit is assessed by unseen writen examination and coursework. A project must also be taken to complete the Bsc degree. Qualification Gained Bsc Creative Computing Classification : Undergraduate degreed are awarded with First Class Honours, Upper Second Class Honours, Lower Second Class Honours or Third Class honours. If students do not qualify for Honours, they maybe awarded a pass classification. Opportunities for progression The programme has been developed by academics within the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths. The department is a leading centre in the UK for the study of Arts and Music Computing, Cognitive Computing and Artifical Intelligence, and Computer Science. Academic staff are leaders and partner on a variety of research projects. This degree will prepare you for a variety of careers, including System Analyst, System Designer, Application Programmer and IT Consultant This Degree is for the people if they want to learn how to develop system that can grow to meet new and changing needs in modern business environments and in arts, media and cultural applications. It also provides a route to a variety of higher degrees in the computing and information systems sector.
