About Washington and Jefferson College

Washington & Jefferson is a private liberal arts and sciences college located 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our dedicated, experienced professors are passionate about teaching and work closely with our students to ensure that they receive a quality, comprehensive education. Our entire community is focused on student success. To that end we offer an On-Time Graduation Guarantee, opportunities to study all over the world through our Magellan Project and a committed staff of career counseling experts. For more than 200 years, our alumni have been influencing change in business, politics, the arts and sciences as CEOs, lawyers, state representatives, doctors, researchers, writers and teachers, and in many other equally worthy professions.

Campus information

The Office of Inclusive Campus Engagement: Student Organizations & Campus Activities supports the mission of Washington & Jefferson College, including the Office of Student Life. The office is committed to the holistic development of the individual student by providing opportunities to engage, explore, and develop outside of the classroom. Our goal is to foster the personal growth necessary for individual and institutional excellence that reaches beyond the borders of our campus community. We offer on-campus programming such as Movies in The Alley, the Do It Yourself (DIY) series, and Free Friday Bowling; off-campus experiences such as Broadway Shows in Pittsburgh and trips to New York City; and membership and leadership opportunities for all students in more than 70 active student organizations on campus.

The United States is a top destination for many international students given that it's considered to be one of the most affordable cities to live in.

Accommodation

Residence Life coordinates a positive, safe, and developmental housing experience for W&J students. As we are a residential campus, 98% of W&J students live on campus during their four years. First-year students are paired with roommates and are housed in first-year housing based on the living preferences they submit. All continuing students participate in the spring housing process to secure housing for the upcoming year. RAs, upper-class trained para-professional staff, work with professional staff in residence life to provide support to students and to assist in building community.
