About Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris

Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris or Sultan Idris University of Education (UPSI) was established in 1922  and was known as the first Teacher Training College of Malaya. It is known as one of the oldest universities in Malaysia. UPSI was later upgraded to a full university institution on 1 May 1997, an upgrade from their previous college status. Their aim to provide exceptional leadership in the field of education continues until today and has produced quality graduates to act as future educators to students in the primary and secondary level.

The faculties are the Faculty of Languages,

Faculty of Music and Art,

Faculty of Science and Technology,

Faculty of Cognitive Science and Humanities, the Faculty of Business and Economics,

Faculty of Information Technology and Communication,

Faculty of Social Science and Humanities,  

Faculty of Sports Science.

The name of UPSI reflects the symbol of excellence because this is the only university that specialises in teacher training and education programmes of study in the first degree as well as post degree levels.

Campus information

The main campus is located on a 80 hectare site in the town of Tanjung Malim. A new campus is currently being built on an 800-acre (3.2 km) site in the new township of Proton City.

Accommodation

The university provides 3 housing facilities for students who do not live around the university:

Kolej Harun Aminurrashid:

Located 1.7 KM from the university, this facility provides accomodation for 2,700 students. Each apartment has 4 rooms where each room can accommodate 8 students. There are 3 blocks. Block 1 and 3 for male students and Block 2 for female students. 

Kolej Ungku Omar

Located 5 KM from Bandar Tanjong Malim, this facility provides 40 apartments for 1,500 international students. 

Kolej Za'ba

This facility provides accommodation for 1,500 students. There are 5 Blocks. Block A - D for female students and Block E for male students.
