About University of Hohenheim

The University of Hohenheim is divided into three faculties: Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Business, Economics and Social Sciences.

Each faculty is made up of a group of related institutes and departments. As teaching and administrative units, they are responsible for the organization of research, teaching, and studies in their scientific area. The head of the faculty is the dean, who is responsible for the development of the faculty.

Today, almost 10,000 students are enrolled at the University of Hohenheim.

Corresponding to the jump in the number of students after World War II, the number of professors and employees at the University also grew quickly: In 1990, there were almost eight times as many professors as in 1946. The scientific personnel numbers 950 people today, 120 of whom are professors. The total number of people employed by the University is 2,100.

Campus information

The University of Hohenheim’s campus, on the south side of Stuttgart, is built in and around around the late baroque Palace built by Duke Carl Eugen at the end of the 18th century. The historical structure and modern research institutions, expansive parks with gardens and experimental areas as well as several interesting museums make the University one of the most beautiful campuses in Germany.

The University of Hohenheim is in the south of Stuttgart - only a few minutes away from the airport, the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, and the autobahn. The University is around 10 km away from the city center and can be reached within 30 minutes using public transportation.

Accommodation

Among international students, there is a high demand for rooms in our residence halls. There is only a limited number of rooms (so-called “quota rooms”) reserved for international students, and that is why only a small number of Hohenheim students can get a room.

We have put together an overview of the residence halls in Hohenheim.

It is much more difficult for international students to look for accommodation while they are still in their home country. In order to help them and to make the application procedure easier, the residence hall management reserves a number of rooms for international students.

Almost all new international students can get a room in the residence hall. The room can be rented for a maximum of one year, and afterwards our accommodation mentoring will help you with finding accommodation on the private market
