About Griffith University

Established in 1971, Griffith University is a public research university ranking in the top 2% of universities worldwide. Griffith has an extensive network of research centres and institutes spanning 3 cities in South East Queensland, offering more than 200 degrees at its 5 campuses as well as via online education in a wide variety of subjects - such as hospitality and leisure management, nursing, performing arts, development studies, education and training, social policy and administration, law and legal studies, architecture, politics as well as environmental studies. Currently, Griffith has over 50,000 students and 200,000 alumni across 130 nationalities.

Research and education at Griffith are well-rated. Griffith is also one of the top young universities in the world, ranking 35th in the 2019 QS World University Rankings: Top 50 Under 50 and 37th in the 2018 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.

Campus information

Gold Coast

Home to more than 18,000 students, the Gold Coast campus is the largest of Griffith University campuses. It is only a 10-minute drive away from the Southport central business district (CBD) and can be easily accessed by car, tram, bicycle, bus and even on foot. Located just minutes from the Gold Coast’s world-famous beaches, the campus offers a dynamic and exciting student lifestyle, with extensive sporting amenities, on-campus services, retail stores - such as bookshop, computer store, hair salon, post office, travel agent and Uni Store - and a range of cafes and restaurants.

The Gold Coast campus also features the Griffith Health Centre, Business School building, Red Zone, science precinct, library with tech lounge and 24/7 study hall. Degrees at this campus span almost all disciplines with particular strengths in health.

Logan

The Logan campus is based in Queensland’s third largest city between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, hosting nearly 2,500 students. Nationally renowned for its social inclusion in higher education, the campus has strong connections with the local community, organising numerous sporting and cultural events throughout the year. It is accessible by bus, train, car, and bicycle, and features a range of facilities and services, including a community lounge, library, workout room, sports fields, bookshop, café and off-campus accommodation.

The Logan campus offers degrees in human services and social work, nursing and midwifery, business and commerce, and education - with a strong focus on community health, education and business.

Nathan 

Nathan is Griffith's foundation campus and currently has more than 13,000 students. Located on the edge of Toohey Forest, the Nathan campus is a short walk or bus ride from the Mt Gravatt campus or a 20-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD. Facilities and services include a fitness centre, multisport complex, sports fields, squash courts, library and study zones, Sir Samuel Griffith Centre, Red Zone, pharmacy, post office, travel agent, and bookshop.

The campus offers degrees in business and government, engineering and information technology, environment, humanities and languages, law, and science and aviation. It is home to world-class expertise in the environment, corporate sustainability, Asian studies and biosciences.

Mt Gravatt

Home to 4,400 students, the Mt Gravatt campus is Griffith University's social sciences and humanities hub. Adjacent to Nathan campus, the Mt Gravatt campus is situated on the edge of Toohey Forest and features a world-class health and fitness hub, comprising a heated pool, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, fitness centre, 16-court tennis centre, a training oval plus basketball and netball courts. Other amenities include a three-level library, recreation hall, two eateries and a bookshop. Students can reach the campus by bus, car, bicycle, or on foot.

The campus offers degrees in criminology and criminal justice, education and applied theatre and psychology. It is the University's research centre for critical social issues such as education and suicide prevention. 

South Bank

The South Bank campus hosts a population of 3,400 students and located in Brisbane’s cultural precinct - a 10-minute walk from Brisbane CBD. Renowned for excellence in the creative and performing arts, the South Bank campus features the Queensland College of Art, the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith Graduate Centre and the Griffith Film School. Other facilities include two libraries, a cinema, art galleries, exhibition and performance spaces. 

As Griffith's creative hub, degrees at the South Bank campus largely focus on music and the creative arts. 

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation

On-campus accommodation is available at all campuses except South Bank. It is usually fully furnished and provides access to laundry facilities, gym equipment, common rooms, internet and a range of student activities. Room options include:

  • Dormitory: Nathan & Mt Gravatt
  • Self-catered flat/apartment: Gold Coast, Nathan, Mt Gravatt & Logan

Short stays are also available at the Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses for staff, students, visiting academics and the public as well as for schools, sporting groups and general accommodation bookings.

Homestay

Homestay is available to students at all Griffith campuses. Living in an Australian family home, students will be provided with a fully furnished bedroom, laundry facilities and meals. Homestay hosts are located within 30-35 minutes of Griffith University Nathan, Gold Coast or Mt Gravatt campuses via public transport. 

Off-campus accommodation

Griffith also provides information on off-campus accommodation options for students who prefer a private rental or share house. Student One is one of the preferred suppliers for off-campus student accommodation in Brisbane, providing high quality, flexible accommodation options.
