University Vice President Yang Bin shared that they have adopted a more proactive strategy to get more Malaysian
Yang Bin spoke to a group of international Chinese delegates at a dinner in Beijing and he pointed out that Malaysian applicants should not fly all the way to the university in Beijing to take the entrance examination. Instead the entrance examination should take place in Malaysia. To make this possible, he wants to send the examiners to Malaysia to conduct the test.
The Tsinghua University is ranked at the 24th spot on QS World University Rankings in 2016. Graduates from Tsinghua are ranked in the top 10 in terms of employability.
Malaysian students score very high in Chinese language, science, and mathematics. Bin hopes to recruit at least 50 new Malaysian students each year as they have the best grades among other foreign students in China. He also thinks they are the top students among all the international ones in terms of performance and hopes to get more of them in the next intake.
Tsinghua takes in about 3000 local students each year, and 50 places are reserved for Malaysian students. Unfortunately only 20 students have joined the university each year for the past three years instead of 50.
