Queen's University

Queen's University is a public research university located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Queen's is a co-educational university, with more than 23,000 students, and with over 131,000 living alumni worldwide. Notable alumni include government officials, academics, business leaders and 56 Rhodes Scholars.

The university was ranked 4th in Canada by Maclean's University Ranking Guide for 2015, 187th in the 2014 QS World University Rankings, 251-275th in the 2013-2014 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and 201-300 in the 2014 Academic Ranking of World Universities. Queen's varsity teams, known as the Golden Gaels, compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport.

Queen's is a residential university with most students hailing from outside of Kingston. Queen's 17 residences, home to over 3,900 graduate and undergraduate students from approximately 100 countries, are more than just a place to stay while attending university. Here, you’ll meet incredible people from around the world and learn some amazing things about yourself and others. Most residences on main campus are within a 10-minute walk to classes, libraries, the Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC), and our many dining facilities. In fact, most student housing, Queen's-owned or otherwise, is within a 20-minute walk to campus. Queen's large and unique pool of talented researchers, students, and staff are engaged in a diverse set of sustainability-related activities. What follows are only some of the major environmentally-minded initiatives spearheaded by various groups in the Queen's community.

Queen's is located in the city of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, half-way between Montreal and Toronto, two of Canada's largest cities. Kingston is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario, near the entrance to the St. Lawrence Seaway, Thousand Islands and the Rideau Canal. Queen's U holds more than 1,400 hectares (3,500 acres) of land throughout Ontario and owns Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, England. Queen's is organized into ten undergraduate, graduate and professional faculties and schools.
