Entry Requirements

Placement test and an oral interview are arranged on the first Monday a student arrives at the AAC Language Centre to identify the suitable level of studies. The test covers reading, writing and grammar. A teacher will then monitor class progress of the student to ensure that he/she is in the appropriate level. When the student has progressed in their English language ability, they may be moved to the next level.

Curriculum

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to become familiar with, and to practice applying, English medium academic conventions. They will be able to critically consider texts, discourses and issues by analysing the purposes behind the texts and develop Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking skills particularly suitable to academic environments. As a result, students’ abilities to be independent learners and to utilize the World Wide Web for academic research will improve greatly. This will facilitate a process for students so that they recognize and appreciate cultural viewpoints that may be different than their own as well as make a smooth as possible transition from studying in the students’ own countries and languages to studying in English.
