Fannie, a current Sophomore shares her reviews on spots to check out in UCSI.
It’s lunchtime and you’re unsure of where you should grab your lunch? Here are some places that we, UCSIan foodies would recommend!
1. Uncle Tony Corner
Craving for that smoky flavour of authentic Char Kuey Teow? Look for Uncle Tony!
Much like how genuine yet humorous he is as a person, the Char Kuey Teow prepared by Uncle Tony can definitely brighten up your day.
Feel free to customize your Char Kuey Teow by making requests such as ‘less oil’, ‘less spicy’, ‘less salty’ or even to add on an egg, as Uncle Tony will prepare it in the way just as you’d like!
While Char Kuey Teow is the most popular among students in UCSI, Uncle Tony also offers other dishes such as curry noodles, fish ball noodles and Penang Asam Laksa.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 4.30 pm
Location: 1st Floor, Block A, UCSI University
2. CY’s Kitchen
CY’s Kitchen is fairly new on the campus but it has impressed us all! One fun fact about this brand-new food outlet is that it is owned by a student from our university itself. She started off her business by offering only a few dishes and has now expanded the menu to include up to 30 food delights!
Try out their simple yet hearty Cold Noodles to refresh yourself amidst all the hustle and bustle. And guess what, they offer Fried Clams as well! A plate of fresh seafood for lunch, why not?
If you’re looking for something light yet filling, their Herbal Eggs is a great choice! This healthy and flavourful dish gives you the energy that you’ll need for the rest of your day.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm
Location: 1st Floor, Block A, UCSI University
3. Everyday Espresso
Everyday Espresso is one of our favourite spots for having a coffee break between classes. It is also a great choice if you’d like to grab a cup of coffee or some baked delights on-the-go.
Its best seller Waffles come with a variety of flavours for selection including Chocolate, Peanut, Kaya, Margarine, Strawberry and Blueberry. Create your own combination and they’ll make it just the way you want it to be! Tips: Chocolate + Peanut is one of the best combinations and we really can’t get over its scrumptiousness.
From Americano, Cappuccino to Latte, you can almost find all kinds of coffee here, so go ahead and revitalize yourself with a sip of your favourite brew.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm
Location: 1st Floor, Block A, UCSI University
4. Joshijosh UCSI
From Western, Asian to fusion-styled dishes, Joshijosh has them all! As a plus, Joshijosh offers catering services for parties, weddings, corporate events and other special occasions. Just ask them for their contact information and they’ll be more than willing to tell you more about their service.

They have just come up with a new dish, which is our favourite Pan Mee! It costs only RM 9.50 and is accompanied with a cup of free drink.

Their pasta is also a must-try, especially their popular buttermilk pasta that would satisfy your taste buds with that creamy texture and milky fragrance! If you’re a vegetarian, Joshijosh’s pasta dishes are great options for you as they come with no meat yet remain flavourful as always.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 10.00 am to 7.30 pm
Location: The Alfresco Area, Ground Floor, Block G, UCSI University
All these food outlets may be small and simple, but they play important roles in keeping us energetic for our classes and other routine activities as students. Hence, feel free to make your way to any of these outlets and grab your favourite meals!
