Matriculation Graduates to Receive Certificate of Recognition

Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, announce the matriculation graduates from 2016 onwards will be awarded certificates to enable them to apply for jobs.
He announced the decision on the orientation week for new students at the Kedah Matriculation College in Changlun, Tuesday.
According to Education Ministry matriculation division deputy director Dr. Baiduriah Yaakub, the discussion with the Public Service Department on the recognition of the certificate has been ongoing since 2010.
Before this, the matriculation is only a preparation stage for the students to proceed to higher education. With the certification recognition, matriculation will be equivalent to Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM).
The main purpose of the certification is to allow matriculation graduate to be able to apply for public or private sectors. The salary scale will be equivalent to STPM level.
