Malaysian University Offers for 2014/2015 Released Today

Prof Datuk Dr Asma Ismail, the Director-General of the Education Ministry said that the results will be available to students from noon today. Public university applicants can check their outcomes online by logging on to http://upu.moe.gov.my, via SMS by messaging “UPU [SPACE] RESULT [SPACE] [IC number]” to 15888, or by calling the Higher Education Department’s hotline at 03-8870 6767 or the helpline at 03-8870 6777.

The Universities will start issuing letters to successful candidates from today. Dr Ismail also said that students can also check the status of their application at the Student Intake Management Division, Higher Education Department at the Ministry of Higher Education at Level 4, No.2, Menara 2, Jalan P5/6, Precinct 5, Putrajaya, from August 12 until August 22. Successful applicants who would like to accept their offers are required to confirm on or before August 23.

Of the 74,071 applicants for the 2014/2015 academic year, a whooping 91% (67,388) were eligible candidates; from those, 37,467 applicants were successful. Of these, 21,800 candidates from the Science stream and 15,667 candidates from the Arts stream were successful in their applications.

Amongst the successful candidates were 124 athletes, 56 people with disabilities and 31 Orang Asli candidates. There were also 3,062 candidates with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (PNGK) of 4.00. All 3,062 were offered places at IPTA for the 2014/2015 academic session.

The 5 major research universities, namely, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, have been making autonomous selections since 2012. Students can also log in to the university websites to check the admissions results.

Dr Ismail further said that unsuccessful candidates can submit appeals within 10 days. The e-Rayuan (online appeal) application is available at http://upu.mohe.gov.my from 12pm today until midnight on August 22. If applicants receive no word by September 30, they should consider their appeal to be unsuccessful.
