1 Malaysia Student Discount Card (Kad Diskaun Siswa 1Malaysia)

Free and available to all Malaysian students in Higher Learning Institutes, this nifty and smart card allows you to enjoy discounts on goods and services such as food and drinks, books and stationery, entertainment, health and recreation services, transportation and even flight tickets! Most of the discounts range from 5- 60% at more than 2,600 outlets of 264 participating companies where you can gain privilege by just showing your student card. Another new feature introduced on the card- student now have an option to use it as a debit card. Get excited, but don’t get over loco shopping around!
Transportation
If public transport is a thing for you, don’t hesitate to grab the MyRapid Student card to get 50% discount on cash rate for LRT and bus fares, with only RM5 subscription fees required. You can also opt to subscribe to MyRapid Smart 7 Weekly and Smart 30 Monthly, just pay a maximum of RM2.50 per week or RM10.00 per month respectively. These two cards can be used to access to both LRT and Monorail. Isn’t it worthy and convenient? Alternately, if you have friends living close to you, why not carpool, or split a GrabCar?
Information communication technology
Wanna be free from contract and paying only for what you use? Be smart and go for prepaid package! As Telcos are hungry for business from students, remember to take advantage of their services by asking for special student deal. Telcos such as Digi, Celcom and Hotlink offer strategic prepaid plans for you to spend lesser in video calls, voice calls, sending SMS and MMS. Plus, how often do you make calls nowadays anyway? Another hack? Leech of your uni’s free WiFi!
Shopping
No matter how much of a cheapskate you are, you’ll probably need to shop for some clothes that are comfortable, stylish, yet budget-friendly. Think Uniqlo, Forever 21 and H&M, which give you the latest up-to-date styles that don’t burn a hole in your wallet. Just remember to check out the sales and discount sections for some great steals!
Movies
Most cinemas offer student discounts, some during weekdays, others during promotional periods. All you need to do is simply flash your student card to enjoy these exclusive discounts. Prices vary between cinemas, so compare first before you go. In GSC cinemas, students can enjoy a movie from RM7.50 to RM10.50 on weekdays, while MBO cinemas offer student price movie ticket for only RM9.00. Furthermore, you can catch a movie on weekdays for RM10 and enjoy early bird value deal on weekend before noon in TGV cinemas. Stand to get more if you use a debit card with cashback options or promotional discounts on movies.
Outdoor entertainment
By simply showing your student ID card, you can get discounts at theme parks and museums. Besides cheaper ticket prices, going to these destinations and places during offpeak seasons is highly recommended to avoid crowds. Going in a large group may also give you more benefits and discounts. Also, check out deal sites like Groupon for special deals and read the terms and conditions because these deals usually apply to certain dates.
Groceries
Ever wonder what is so special about the loyalty reward cards that aunties carry all the time? Well, it’s for good reason- they’ll save you cash on your groceries. Most of the time, you can get more of the things you need especially when you buy home brands instead of other branded products. If you have roomies, be a smart consumer by bulk-buying to save even more!

Go to bank and choose the one debit card that will reward you the most based on your lifestyle and routine from a wide variety of debit cards.
