Godzilla Vs. Kong: An Epic Showdown That Doesn’t Disappoint
September 21, 2023

Godzilla Vs. Kong didn’t disappoint with its fast-paced action sequences between two iconic monsters in this two-hour film. Director Adam Wingard did a fantastic job by sticking to the original storylines and crafting a film that kept us constantly on the edge of our seats.
Aside from the two show-stealers (Godzilla & Kong), the film co-stars Rebecca Hall, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Brian Tyree Henry, Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, and Demián Bichir.
The story begins with Kong inside a facility while Godzilla attacks random cities, eventually confronting Kong. Nobody knows the reason behind Godzilla’s ruthless attacks or why Kong and Godzilla are constantly at each other’s throats. As the plot unravels, we later discover an ancient rivalry between their ancestors. Ultimately, our main characters get into an epic battle to be the last alpha standing.
Visual effects and cinematography that will make you ooh and aah
The overall look and feel of the film were genuinely breathtaking with its fantastic visual effects and cinematography. Everyone in the cinema oohed and aahed when the legendary titans made their first appearance on-screen. The creative team, especially Ben Sersein (Director of Photography) and John “DJ” DesJardin (Visual Effects Supervisor), took the movie to a level that it deserved.
A soundtrack to get your heart pounding from one battle to the next
Based on the movie trailer, I anticipated the film to have some great music to let the audiences feel emotionally connected to the storyline. There isn’t a single moment in the movie where I didn’t feel immersed in the storyline because of the music.
Edge-of-your-seat action-packed scenes
When I imagined two gigantic beasts facing off against each other, I expected there to be lots of exciting action scenes. The movie delivered, and it felt believable too. I was always anticipating what would happen next.
Cheesy dialogue, mediocre characters
This was one aspect of the film which really didn’t work well for me. The human characters had cheesy dialogues and emotions that felt out of place. There were one or two teary moments, which mostly involved the titans’ journeys. However, the comic elements just fell flat, almost every time.
While the poor dialogues, characters, and flat comic timing needed more work, Godzilla Vs. Kong is a decent one-time watch on the big screen because of its strong premise, story continuity, and detailed action sequences. Overall, it’s an exciting movie for students to break away from academic life’s daily rigour.
Godzilla Vs. Kong is now available at cinemas near you. It will also be streamed on HBO Max from 31st March 2021.
