Peculiar children enjoying their movie time

In today’s social media-obsessed world, where everyone seeks to “be like each other” and tend to conform to the majorities, it’s really challenging to “stay peculiar”. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, is a timely movie that celebrated the uniqueness in each of us and to be confident with the things that make you, you.

The story begins when Abe (Terence Stamp), who was left dying without his eyes, died in his grandson Jake’s (Asa Butterfield) arm. Before he died, he told him to go to Miss Peregrine and help the peculiars.

In the same area where he found his grandfather, Jake saw a Hollowgast a huge, eyeless creature standing nearby the woods. He remembered the bedtime stories Abe used to tell him about such creatures and told his parents and police about it. Unfortunately, none of them believed him, and he was instead sent to a psychiatrist, Dr. Golan (Allison Janney). She encouraged Jake to go to Wales Island, where Miss Peregrine’s letter was from, to seek for closure.

Miss Peregrine

Jake travelled to the ‘home’ and got to meet a group of children with incredible superpowers, all under Miss Peregrine’s (Eva Green) supervision. On the other hand, Miss Peregrine is no normal headmistress (in case you are wondering)—she is actually a Ymbrine, a creature who can turn into a bird and manipulate time. Their main responsibility to create a time loop.

Despite a seemingly orderly way of living, the peculiar children’s existence was disturbed by their biggest fears—the Hollowgast and the Wight. These creatures were products of a failed scientific experiment, in the quest to discover immortality, led by Barron (Samuel Jackson), a peculiar, who turned into a Hollowgast. And just when you thought Miss Peregrine is safe, she was captured by Barron. This event led Jake to use his “gift” and compelled to take responsibility for the children’s safety.

Together with these special children, his stay at Miss Peregrine’s home, filled with twists and turns, eventually made him learn to accept his own abilities and lead the powerful, yet innocent kids to fight for their lives.

The peculiar children has to keep themselves safe from the Hollowgast

The movie seemed to have spent more time in introducing each child’s capabilities and their relationship—which is good for those who have yet to read the book. Though, it might have seemed to take away the element of surprise in guessing each child’s “gifts.” Burton lends his imaginative technique that will surely leave his fans awesomely pleased after the movie. Though the move seemed like it ended on a good note, we are still anticipating the following sequels to be up in the future.

Starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Chris O’Dowd, prepare to be surprised and catch Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children when it hits the cinemas this month.

A movie we are sure everyone will be delighted to see, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a celebration of everyone’s one-of-a-kind gifts and encourages us to embrace our own peculiarities. Stand out and stay peculiar!
